“Here you are,” Dale said walking into the kitchen and taking a seat at the small dining table, “I thought you already left.”
“Without a kiss?” Becca said flirtatiously and put the last pancake on the plate, “how many do you want?”
Dale was spending almost every night at Becca’s tiny apartment.
“So when are you going to take me to your place?” she asked.
“Well, I actually live at my sister’s house right now while I’m looking for a house. I didn’t want to extend the lease at the place I was renting because I would have to stay for a whole year,” he explained, “but if you want to meet my sister and her son, that’s fine. They would love you.”
This is your chance, Becca, tell him! she though when he was talking about how much fun he has with his nephew.
But she chickened out, again. She tried to tell him about Carissa before.
Would he even care? It’s not like we are together plus I’m leaving in a month anyway…
Claire and Becca often went to the lounge and partied when Sam had some celebrity event to attend and Dale was working late shifts at the restaurant.
He loved cooking and his dream was to be a successful restaurant owner, but for now, he was working his way up as a chef and learning how the business works.
The tow girls became pretty close over the past few weeks. Claire told her about the struggle of dating a famous actor. She was also in the movie business but on the other side. Right now she was a scriptwriter but really wanted to be a director one day.
Becca also told her her life story. She usually didn’t tell people about her teen pregnancy unless they were really close to her, but with Claire, it just came naturally. She didn’t try to tell her but they had some weird connection. It felt like they always knew each other even though they only met a month ago.
Claire went to get another drink when Becca’s phone rang.
“It’s Dale, do you mind if I…?” Becca turned to her and pointed to the door.
“Go,” her friend waved one arm in the air, “and tell him already!”
They were sitting on the bench looking at the beach and talking for hours.
“I can’t believe you will leave me now when I finally found you.”
“I’m sorry,” Becca said quietly and hang her head down.
“Hey, why don’t you just move here?” he suggested,”I know we just met, but I’ve never felt like this with anyone in my whole life and it’s not like you have to go back, right?”
“Yea, it’s not exactly this easy,”
“Why wouldn’t it be easy? I love you and I want to be with you, there I said it.”
“Look I love hanging out with you too, but I have,” she paused, “stuff….I have to take care of back at home.”
“Then take care of it and come back, for good, both of you…”
Becca just stared at him. Did he know? How would he know? She probably just heard him wrong.
“I said it’s not that easy, Dale, ok? Let it go.” she stood up and wanted to walk away, but he grabbed her arm and pulled her back on the bench.
He put his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. “Look, I know you have a daughter and I can’t wait to meet her.”
Becca was speechless, all she could do was to kiss him.
“I love you too,” she whispered.
A/N: As much as I love all characters from the beginning of my story, I recommend you start with generation four here since I didn’t have enough photos and experience with writing when I started this story. I plan on updating these chapters eventually 🙂
